How to Make a Digital Background for Twitter

by admin on Jul.21, 2010, under Digital Backgrounds

Digital backgrounds are easy to make with Photoshop filters. Once this is done, you can use your backgrounds for Twitter, Myspace, blogs, and your own portraits. This is not rocket science. Digital backgrounds can easily be made in under five minutes.

What Filters Work Best For Creating Digital Backgrounds?

The ‘motion blur’ filter is an excellent choice for making a digital background. The concept is really simple. Take any picture and load it into Photoshop, then apply the ‘motion blur’ filter to your photo by clicking …

Filter/Blur/Motion Blur

When the ‘motion blur window opens, you can adjust the angle of the motion and the amount of blur by moving the bottom slider to the right. If you are working with a high resolution image, you will need to move the slider to the very far right to see any results.

You can also chose a filter from the ‘filter gallery’ by clicking…

Filter/Filter Gallery

When the ‘filter gallery’ windows opens, you will be given a choice of filters to use from the drop down menu on the top right corner of the window. There are plenty of filters to use and work with so don’t limit yourself to just one or two. Experiment with the others as well. Just remember  that you don’t have to accept the default settings for each filter. Every filter will have it’s own unique tool adjustments, especially for the amount of strength to be applied.

How to Upload Your Digital Background to Twitter

To upload your background to Twitter you simply need to…

1. Log into your Twitter account

2. Click on ‘Settings’ then ‘Design’

3. Click on ‘Change Background Image’ at the bottom

4. Click ‘Choose’ to search your computer for the background you wish to upload.

Just remember that images must not exceed 800k and must be in GIF, JPG, or PNG format.

Are Digital Backgrounds For Photographers a Waste of Time?

by admin on Jul.20, 2010, under Digital Backgrounds

By Fabian Barajas

If you love photography and have wondered if digital backgrounds are worth the hassle, please consider the following information. Digital backgrounds for photographers have been around for nearly ten years. Perhaps you seen them advertised at the photography websites you visit. The following will answer some of the questions you may have.

What is the Process for Using Digital Backgrounds?

Basically, you take a picture of your subject and remove or extract them from the background with photo editing software such as Photoshop, then paste them onto a new digital background of your choice. These backgrounds are generally pictures of landscapes, famous locations, churches, or even holiday related graphical themes such as birthdays, Christmas, etc.

Will Any Picture I Have Work With a Digital Background?

You can use whatever picture you want, but, you get the best results when the picture of your subject was taken in front of a solid color. This will make the extraction process so much faster and easier.

Do I Need to Use a Chromakey Screen?

Many people mistakenly think that they need to purchased a chromakey screen such as green or blue to work with digital backgrounds. Though this is certainly true for video work, it is not true of photography. Sure chromakey screens will work, but you can achieve great results with just a solid color background such as a white bare wall. The point to consider is the extraction becomes easier when the subject is not wearing the same color as the color as the background. For instance, if you are using a green chromakey screen, then you would want to avoid having your subject wear any clothing that is the same shade of green as your screen. The same goes for blue screens or a white wall or muslin.

How Long do Extractions Take?

If the picture of the subject was taken in front of a chromakey screen or white wall, then extractions are usually completed in less than five minutes.

Additional Benefit

An additional benefit when working with backgrounds is that it is a low cost way for a person to experiment with portrait photography without the large expense of purchasing custom made muslins which can cost over five hundred dollars in some cases. Aside from purchasing ready made digital backgrounds, one can easily create their own with either their camera or Photoshop.

A DIY Guide to Create Digital Photo – Frame Templates

by admin on Jul.20, 2010, under Photoshop

By Gavin Smith

It is not just adequate to take a good photograph nowadays. You need to work on the basic photograph for quite sometime after it becomes a complete work in itself and is fit for exposure. One of the most important steps in creating the finished product is the editing of the photograph. You need to adjust the color, the light and the size of the photo.

Another very crucial aspect of the photograph is its frame. When we look at digital photographs, the frames tend to have an impact upon us. You must have seen that often, even a good photograph feels incomplete. Although one is not able to pin point the reason behind this, one is left with a sense of lack after looking at the picture. In most cases that this happens, the photo does not have a proper frame.

So when you are working on your photograph, one of your primary concerns should be putting the photograph on a proper digital frame that enhances the look and the feel of the photograph.

There are many ways in which you can create your own digital frame. You can use many programs and software that are available in the market to create your own digital frames. Creating your own frames is a very good option. However, digital designing of frames is not a cakewalk for those who have no idea about how certain programs work.

An effective way to create digital frames is by using Photoshop. You can use the pen tool to create the shape of the frame and then add layers on it to give the colors and the effects to the frame. But creating frames through Photoshop is quite a difficult task for those who are new to Photoshop and those who are not aware of how exactly the tools in Photoshop work.
All hope is not lost for those who are not equipped to create their own digital frames. You can still make your photographs look attractive, thanks to [http://www.digitalphotobackdrops.com] where you can check out the digital frames that you can buy and use them for your photos.

Great Ways to Make Money From Home With Photoshop

by admin on Jun.29, 2010, under Photoshop

By Melanie Evans-Rivera

Who really takes “conventional” pictures anymore? The photo world has gone digital and most of us have followed suit. Adobe Photoshop has actually been around for years but as more people have began relying on digital rather than printed images its use has exploded.

A growing number of people are also using Photoshop to make money from home. The software is not cheap (unless you get lucky on eBay) and the actual learning curve is quite steep. But if you are a creative soul by nature and have a knack for picking up computer programs there are a number of ways you can get a great return on your investment. Here are just some of them:

Start a Photo Editing Business – Put in the most basic terms you take clients flawed image and turn it into a digital masterpiece. You become a sort of “photo doctor” if you like. Photoshop has some incredibly powerful editing tools (do you really think the models in the magazines are quite that flawless?) and if you master them you can work wonders.

Start a Stock Photo Business – If you have some actual photography skills to go with your Photoshop knowledge you can potentially do very well selling images to stock photography sites. Most websites have plenty of pictures and the owners have to source them from somewhere so they turn to one of the many online stock image sites. Many of them accept submissions from freelance amateur photographers and pay a commission of between 20% and 65% on a single photo sale.

Start a Photo Restoration Business – Many people still have plenty of old fashioned photo prints around, but the problem of course is that as these paper images age they degrade. Many an old phot5ograph can be saved and/or enhanced by someone skilled with Photoshop and a lot of people are happy to pay to preserve their precious memories.

Create Social Media Backgrounds – More and more businesses of all sizes are venturing onto social media sites like Twitter and Facebook and need to promote their brand on this sites. One way to do that is by utilizing custom backgrounds and avatars, things that are easy and effectively created in Photoshop.

Greeting Cards, Invitations and Announcements – Personalized versions of all these things can be created in Photoshop to the highest professional standards. However much we venture into the Internet age there is still a huge demand for wedding invitations, birth announcements and an e card will never truly replace the feeling of happiness that a printed greeting card can evoke.

Create Tutorials – After you have taken the time to learn all the ins and outs of Photoshop why not earn money while helping others do the same. Create video tutorials, white reports, even e books and sell them to people who need an extra hand to master the art of photo editing.
